What is the Academy of General Dentistry?

Almost every medical field has a national organization that sets standards for care.  In the dental field, this organization is known as the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).  The Academy of General Dentistry sets standards for dental practices and dentists, granting honors to those that uphold commitment to high quality care.  When you visit a practice recognized by the AGD you know that you are receiving excellent dental care.  We are proud to meet the high standards met by this organization and look forward to providing our patients with the best possible dental care day after day.

The Academy of General Dentistry offers fellowship titles to the dentists that have dedicated many hours to education, research, and dental practice.  I am honored to have earned the Fellowship title from the Academy of General Dentistry and will continue to remain up-to-date with the latest dental advancements and technologies.  I invite you to visit our Briarcliff Manor, NY practice to learn more about how we can care for your smile health.

Good Dental Health Means Good Physical Health

When you brush your teeth, floss, and visit our office for cleanings and exams, you know that you are caring for your smile health.  But did you know that good oral hygiene habits can have a positive effect on your overall health too?  More and more studies are now showing a link between your oral health and your cardiovascular and neurological health.

When you take steps to prevent gum disease, you are also reducing your risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, dementia and even certain cancers.  If brushing your teeth for your smile health wasn’t enough, now your oral care routine also improves your physical health.

Good oral health habits are more important than ever.  If you are due for your biannual cleaning, be sure to schedule an appointment at our office.  Daily oral hygiene care and routine dental visits can help keep your smile beautiful, while also maintaining good overall health.

Saliva and Oral Health

Brushing, flossing, and regular dental exams are vital for maintaining a healthy mouth, but did you know there’s another factor that plays a considerable role in protecting your oral cavity from bacteria and gum disease? Saliva is an important player in the health of your teeth and gums. It serves to help you digest, carry essential nutrients, and protect your tooth enamel and mouth’s soft tissue from germs.

Without adequate saliva flow, it’s easy for bacteria to flourish and cause decay and infection. That’s why we encourage our patients to stay hydrated and address any issues that could compromise their body’s ability to produce saliva. Drinking plenty of water, chewing xylitol gum, and abstaining from tobacco products all help to ensure healthy saliva flow. If you still find you have dry mouth, or you have a condition or take medication that inhibits your body’s saliva production, please arrange an appointment with us.

Laser Dentistry

Most people come to dread dental experiences because of the poking and prodding with manual instruments, but modern dental advancements like laser dentistry have eliminated the need to do so.  At our practice, we maintain laser dental capabilities that are precise, efficient and considerably less invasive than traditional methods.  As a result, your procedure is totally comfortable and painless. Laser dentistry makes it possible for us to administer a number of different treatments without the bleeding and swelling. Since this method allows for precision dental work, your procedure is all the more efficient and healing time is significantly reduced.

To learn how laser dentistry can improve the process and results of your next dental procedure, contact us directly.

Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays have changed the way we are able to examine your teeth, complete a diagnosis and better serve you as our patient. We gain just as much insight into the health and structure of your mouth as we would with conventional film x-rays, only with even more definition, less radiation in the capture process, and greater ease of display and maintenance of your health records.

We are proud to maintain this capability for the sake of your safety and satisfaction when it comes to your care experience. To learn how digital x-rays can benefit you during your next visit, call us and schedule an appointment.

Dermal Fillers

You can come back from our office with a brighter more beautiful smile, and a now a more youthful overall look. With dermal fillers, we can complement your cosmetic dental services by smoothing over wrinkles and returning the softening effects of collagen to the face.

Through a simple process, dermal fillers naturally add more volume and elasticity to the skin. While the effects are not permanent, they are dramatic and can be easily maintained with follow up injections every nine to twelve months. It’s the next best thing to getting a facelift without going under the knife.

If you’d like to try dermal fillers as part of your next cosmetic dental visit, arrange a consultation and we can discuss how it will benefit you.

Invisalign

Our teens and adult patients who are seeking a discreet and comfortable way to cosmetically align their smiles find a highly beneficial solution in Invisalign. These popular clear tooth aligners can correct mild to moderate orthodontic issues, but without the visible metal components and limitations of traditional braces.

Invisalign is comprised of a series of software-guided custom fabricated tooth aligners that are worn over several months and gradually move the teeth into position. During this treatment, our patients can enjoy the flexibility of removing the aligners for meals, teeth cleaning and daily checkups.  While they are nearly invisible when placed on the teeth, Invisalign can be removed for special occasions, photographs and other needs. The vast majority of our patients describe the treatment as comfortable and convenient, and best of all, conducive to real results. Following your Invisalign treatment, you can expect a more aligned, beautiful smile as well as a health mouth ,that creates a wonderful impression and renews your confidence.
